Description
These are all of the initial ship designs that I did for Darkfire. We ended up scrapping 3 of these designs, because they decided they weren't needed.
I had a hard time wrapping my head around how some of these should be drawn from the rear in isometric. We didn't use 3D software on that game, although I might've blocked out one or two in SketchUp. In this perspective, you have to keep everything lined up on a 45-degree angle, so some of our very early designs were excessively blocky. But through a ton of practice, it was easy to get different forms to work in isometric.
I actually still like to use this perspective when I design vehicles or buildings, because it's easy to see all the thing you're designing, and eliminates some of the depth that can make it confusing.
